← Mona’s Queen Anchor Memorial Dedication Town Hall Opening May 16, 2012 by admin No Comments “The Town Hall in Port St Mary is going to reopen in August 2012”, Port St Mary Commissioners announced at their Board meeting on Wednesday 16th May. The announcement was made by Chairman Bernadette McCabe, in the public session. “I have to commend the drive of both the Board and staff in making this happen. The lack of a community hall in the village over the past 9 years has been very noticeable. As a Board we are genuinely excited that we are breathing life back into the building. A number of people have already enquired about the availability of the hall to run a wide range of clubs, activities and events, which will make the Hall, once again, a fantastic amenity for the village of Port St Mary”, added Mrs McCabe. Mrs McCabe went on to say, “Much of the work to date has been undertaken by our own members of staff, which has given the project a real sense of ownership. Ayre Construction Limited has been successful in being awarded the tendered package of works, which includes new access steps incorporating a storm porch and platform lift providing access to the hall for those less able as well as new male and female toilet facilities.” Plans are currently underway for a grand opening event of which further details will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
